The Conversion of King Edwin

Pivotal stories (or histories) shape our lives.  For example, the story of King Edward's conversion helps us understand both personal and political conversion.  Name and briefly outline one story that has shaped your life.  The story could be one from literature at large or one from your life or family history.

  4. One story that has shaped my life was To Kill a MockingBird. I started reading it for your ORB and really didn't want to read it, but later on it just got more and more interesting. It is a great book that describes human nature, and even though we don't have "racism" it still corresponds to how humans behave.

  8. Hearing about my Great-grandpa's (American side) contributions to the Korean war, or any story about the Korean war, makes me proud to be part of the outcome of what everyone was fighting for.

  9. I think just all the stories my grandparents share with me. Because they grew up in a time different then today, and it's always just amazing to listen to what they had to deal with, and makes me so happy I don't have to face those challenges. (My grandparents grew up on farms in Wyoming, living past childhood on a farm is difficult, my grandma's brothers are lucky to still be alive with some of their experiences.)

  11. the story that stuck in my mind was when my grandmother told me about the depression and how they over came it. since i didn't know my grandfather because he died in the 70's (born in 1886) it shows that i should never give up for anything and never quite by going forward.

  13. The life of my grandfather was just a big inspiration to me in my life. He was one the greatest men I knew and he taught me how to be a good man. His death grieved me so much, but I will never forget who he was and what he wanted for all of his family.

  16. Well my life has had tons of drama. My mother has been divorced 4 times and I think that all her pain has caused me to keep a distance from men. I get scared easily and I don't warm up to them very often, but I feel like that could be a very good thing in my life. That way I feel like I'm not "Easy" and I play hard to get. That's the safest way to go these days. So I guess I should thank my mother for giving me this caution of protection. I did, however, grow up in a very scary town (CA). Well now I feel like I'm babbling. Bye... O.O
